Hardware Requirements - Haptic devices

· You need any passive cursor control device (Mouse, Trackball, Touchpads) to see and feel visual feedback on screen (Cursor pointer will move slower or faster).
A relative Mouse is recommended for correct ratio between Mouse Motion (hand) and Visual feedback (eyes), iFeelPixel determines how far the pointer moves on the computer screen in response to how far you move the mouse.
Absolute mice are not recommended.

Note: you can use a Nintendo WiiMote to control the pointer on screen and feel the Rumble Feedback with iFeelPixel. WiinRemote is a program for using Wii Remote on Windows PC.

· You need an active TouchSense device (Mouse, Joystick, Gamepad) to touch and feel tactile feedback (Recommended):

CPU / RAM:
500 MHz (minimal) / 32 Mo
Disk Space:
uses 6 MB
Screen display mode:
256 colors, 16 bit or 32 bit (recommended)
any resolution, but 800*600 is recommended
Normal (recommended, font by default)
Audio:
- DirectX compatible sound card drivers
- Internal PC speakers
- MIDI synthesizer
Video:
Immersion Touchsense mice
(required to feel tactile effects)

The Wii Remote*, also nicknamed "Wiimote," is the primary controller for Nintendo's Wii console. The main feature of the Wii Remote is its motion sensing capability, which allows the user to interact with and manipulate items on screen via movement and pointing, as well as its expandability through the use of attachments. Source: Wikipedia.org

Shaped like a TV remote, it's been designed to be easily used by beginners and pros alike. Sensors determine the Wii Remote's position is in 3-D space, which means that racing-game steering and a tennis swing, for example, are done through movements of your hand rather than by just your thumbs. What's more, a tiny speaker built into the Wii Remote promises some interactive surround sound experiences. The controller also has a force feedback "Rumble" feature. The Wii Remote communicates via the Bluetooth wireless standard. Source: Amazon.com

* recommended 100% compatible with iFeelPixel™
** The Logitech Wingman Force Feedback mouse is recommended for blind users.

Why buy a TouchSense Device?

"The very common response that we get from people is that once they start using a force feedback interface device for some of their work, whether it be in entertainment or scientific analysis, they really don't want to go back"

"You can't underestimate how important the sense of touch is to the basic human experience of engaging. Once you have it, you want that natural intuitive experience"

- Dr. Louis Rosenberg, Immersion Corporation, San Jose

"The addition of tactile feedback to computer mice can significantly enhance user performance."

"Our laboratory studies show that people complete basic cursor targeting tasks faster with tactile feedback."

- Jack Dennerlein, Assistant Professor of Ergonomics and Safety at Harvard University

Feel what you see!

In the five years since 1998, the number of installed force feedback peripherals has grown to 4.62 million. iFeelPixel™ software is optimized for iFeel™ Mice.

Note: If you don't own a TouchSense Device, don't worry...you can use the iFeelPixel software with a simple mouse because tactile effects are replaced by visual sensations or sound effects.
